Jarrahdale Playgroup & Town

Jarrahdale

Jarrahdale is a historical town in the Darling Range hills of Perth, WA. It is around 45 mins from Perth CBD and home to just over a thousand people. Established as the first major milling timber town in the late 1800’s, Jarrahdale is nestled in amongst the Serpentine Jarrahdale National forest.

Jarrahdale boasts an active community of crafters, historians, cleaning crews, mainly coordinated by the Jarrahdale Community Collective. It is also a popular tourist spot with many parks, walks and natural attractions along with Millbrook Winery and several cafes.

Our History

Jarrahdale Playgroup is a long standing playgroup with records stretching back to the early 90’s and many anecdotes remembered prior to that. We pride ourselves in having current members who attended themselves as children and even some grandparents who attend with the grandchildren now and their children before them.

The playgroup is located in the Jarrahdale Tennis Pavillion on Munro St, next door to the Volunteer Fire Brigade. The first notable addition to the playgroup was in 2010 with the installation of a huge outside sandpit and turfed area. In 2019 the next renovations began – a full interior redesign including repaint, reflooring and a new kitchen. During the renovations, the playgroup was rehomed into the Jarrahdale Primary old Kindergarten room where it continued to grow.

By the end of 2019 we had 22 children attending across the two sessions. Our highest number on record was in 2012 with 27 children. Through 2020, despite COVID-19 rendering our school location impossible we still had a regular group that met in the park, until our return to the building in Term 4.

From 2021 we have been back in our freshly renovated new room and kids and parents alike are loving the new furniture, toys and equipment! Check out our Major Project for more info on the work done.
